OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Intercollegiate Athletics Department has hired Gabrielle Rivers as its next softball coach.
Rivers comes to Oswego after four years as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y. In her time with the Dolphins, Le Moyne made four-straight appearances in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship. In the course of that span, the Dolphins also earned bids to the NCAA Championship twice, winning 32 games during both those campaigns. Rivers' day-to-day duties included practice planning, travel planning, social media marketing and recruiting. She worked specifically with hitters and outfielders for practice and in-game adjustments.
As a collegiate player, Rivers began at Division II Merrimack before transferring for her final three seasons to Brockport. During her junior campaign with the Golden Eagles, Rivers batted .324, walked nine times, drove in eight and swiped four bags.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism and broadcasting from Brockport, where she minored in coaching. Rivers went on to earn a Master of Science degree in sport management from Southern New Hampshire University in March 2018.
The Syracuse, N.Y. native's tenure is effective immediately as Rivers begins preparations for the Laker softball team's non-traditional fall season.
