CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) selects forward Philesha Teape (Jamaica, N.Y.) as this week's PrestoSports Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week.
Teape recorded her second, and third-straight double-double performances for the Hawks this weekend at the Tufts Tournament Tip-Off where they played MIT (a NCAA Tournament team a year ago) and No. 2 nationally ranked Tufts who made it into the Elite 8 last year. Against MIT Teape put up a career-high 21 points, shooting 9-for-13, which was also a career-high in makes and attempts, while pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds -- five of which were on the offensive glass -- in a 76-56 win. Against Tufts, again had a game-high with 10 rebounds, five were on the offensive boards, while adding 11 points, a block and a steal to her stat line. She finished the weekend shooting 65 percent from the field, 16 points and nearly 12 rebounds per game.
