CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected the top Women's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week. The winners were selected from top nominations made by conference members. This week's Offensive Player of the week is Nina Schaefer from Buffalo State and on the other side of the field as Defensive Player of the Week is a senior from Buffalo State, Elyse Stark.
The senior attack had 18 points in three games to lead the Bengals to a 2-1 week including a 2-0 SUNYAC start. Schaefer tallied six goals and two assists in a 23-9 victory over Fredonia on Tuesday. Nina added four goals and an assist in a loss to nationally-ranked St. John Fisher on Thursday, and then netted three goals to go with two assists in a 10-4 victory over Potsdam on Saturday.
Elyse made 29 saves and posted a .500 save percentage and a 9.67 GAA in a 2-1 week. She had eight saves in a 23-9 win over Fredonia on Tuesday. Stark then made 12 saves in a 16-9 loss at St. John Fisher on Thursday and had nine saves in a 10-4 win over Potsdam on Saturday.
