SUNYAC announces Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has named the recipients for its weekly awards in Women's Indoor Track and Field. Geneseo junior Genny Corcoran (Syracuse, N.Y.) is the Women's Track Athlete of the Week, and Geneseo senior Shayna Held (Wantagh, N.Y.) is the Women's Field Athlete of the Week.

During the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational on Sunday Held won the pentathlon event with a total of 3,429 achieving the fifth-highest mark (3,451) in Division III this winter. Her performances in the 60-hurdles (9.11) and the long jump (5.42) would have both ranked in the top-35 nationally (she already ranks in the top-10 in both events).

Corcoran set a meet record in winning the 5,000m event at the Tufts Cupid Challenge on Saturday, posting the fourth-best time (16:59.43) in Division III this season. Her record was also the top time in the SUNYAC and the Atlantic Region this winter as well as the third-fastest time in program history.
