2025 SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Annual Awards Posted
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC announces its 2025 top women's lacrosse league awards including Attack Player of the Year, Midfielder of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Coaching Staff of the Year and All-Conference teams as voted on by the conference coaches.
Attack Player of the Year - Lexi Atwater, New Paltz
Atwater had 38 points in nine conference games this season with 35 goals and three assists. She added 18 ground balls, 14 draw controls and nine caused turnovers. Overall Atwater totaled 67 goals and six assists for 73 points in 18 games. She had a season high seven goals on March 4 against Utica. Atwater was named to the SUNYAC All-Tournament team after helping her team advance to the conference semifinals.
Midfielder of the Year - Morgan Atwater, New Paltz
Atwater was second in the SUNYAC with 20 caused turnovers in conference competition. She also totaled 34 draw controls, 18 ground balls and 28 points with 23 goals and five assists in conference play in 2025. Overall she tallied 33 ground balls, caused 27 turnovers and combined for 49 points with 41 goals and eight assists across 18 games. She had a season high of five goals and five caused turnovers against Potsdam in her junior season. The Hawks finished regular season conference play ranked No. 3 and advanced to the SUNYAC semifinals. The team finished the season 13-5 overall.
Defensive Player of the Year - Lexi Caron, Cortland
Caron tallied 20 ground balls, 17 caused turnovers and 10 draw controls to help the Red Dragons earn the No. 2 seed after going 8-1 in regular season conference play. She had a season high of four caused turnovers on March 22 against Potsdam. Caron gathered 30 ground balls, 27 caused turnovers and 14 draw controls in 17 games overall. She was part of a defense that allowed just 159 goals in 18 games while her offense scored 240 goals against their opponents. Cortland ended its 2025 season 11-7 overall.
Goalkeeper of the Year and Rookie of the Year - Kimora Swamp, Potsdam
Swamp recorded seven wins in goal during her first season with the Bears. She led the league with 96 saves in eight conference games. Swamp also was No. 1 in the conference with a 46.4 save percentage. Overall she stopped 129 shots in almost 745 minutes of play defending the goal for Potsdam. Swamp had a season high 18 saves on March 22 against Cortland. The team finished the season 7-8 overall.
Coaching Staff of the Year - Oswego
Britt Howard is the Lakers' head coach and she is assisted by Mike Howard. In 2025, the staff led their team to the program's first SUNYAC women's lacrosse championship title. The squad was the No. 1 seed after regular season conference play, 9-0, and went on to defeat the reigning champions, Cortland, 12-8, in the SUNYAC final. With the win, the Lakers earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament where they will travel to Middlebury, Vt. to play Ithaca College on May 10 at 1 p.m. Eight Oswego student-athletes were named to the 2025 SUNYAC All-Tournament team.
