Enos and Amoroso Earn Baseball Weekly Awards
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has chosen Oswego's Ryan Enos as its Baseball Athlete of the Week and New Paltz's Anthony Amoroso as its Pitcher of the Week.
Enos helped Oswego extend their 16-game winning streak during a 4-0 week for the Lakers. Enos batted .545 (6-for-11) while reaching base at a .737 clip. He had three doubles, scored seven runs, knocked in six and stole three bases for Oswego. For the season, Enos is batting .440 and reaches base 61% of the time. Oswego is slated for a doubleheader with Clarkson on Tuesday at the Laker Baseball Field.
Amoroso had the best two-game span statistically in his career this past week. He threw a career-high 10 strikeouts against Plattsburgh April 27 in six innings pitched with one walk. He held the Cardinals to just one run and four hits until the sixth inning when Plattsburgh took the lead. Amoroso matched a career-high 10 strikeouts Saturday, this time in a 1-0 shutout victory over Oneonta, which kept his team's playoff hopes alive. He gave up just five hits and one walk in eight innings pitched to have a perfect ERA for the game. In his two outings this week, he forced 13 ground outs and just five flyouts, throwing a total of 212 pitches on 54 batters faced with a WHIP of 1.00.
