Krista Archambeau to Lead Brockport Field Hockey
BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Krista Archambeau as the Head Field Hockey Coach.
Archambeau joins the Brockport Athletics staff after most recently serving as the interim head coach at NCAA Division II Seton Hill University, where she also served for two seasons as the assistant coach.
"We are excited to welcome Krista to the Brockport family, and eager to see where she takes the Brockport field hockey program," said Brockport director of athletics Erick Hart. "She has strong experience as both a player and a coach, and has the tools to move the Golden Eagles forward."
The Golden Eagle field hockey program recorded a 5-12 record in 2016 while finishing with a 1-5 mark in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC). Brockport's last appearance in the post season was in 2010 when they made the SUNYAC tournament, with an early first-round exit.
"I'm very honored and thankful for the opportunity to join the Brockport family," said Archambeau. "The support I have received thus far has been incredible, and there is a real desire at Brockport to field a competitive program. I can tell that the team is filled with ambitious and passionate student-athletes, which made me even more excited for the opportunity. It's important to build upon the current culture and traditions of the program, while striving for growth and excellence on and off the field each and every day."
Prior to her time at Seton Hill, Archambeau spent a season at Ithaca College, and a three-year stint at St. John Fisher College. She joined the Fisher field hockey program in 2011 during the team's inaugural season. During her three seasons with the Cardinals, the program improved from two wins in their first season to 10 wins and an appearance in the Empire 8 Field Hockey Championship game in 2013.
Prior to her coaching career, Archambeau was a stand out on the field at Seton Hill, where she was a four-year starter and four-year team captain. Over her career, she scored 37 goals and added 26 assists for 100 career points. She had her most successful season in 2009 when she finished sixth in the country in points per game (2.0) and seventh in goals per game (.84). Archambeau closed out her college career by being selected to play in the 2010 NFHCA Division II North/South Senior Game.
Archambeau played varsity field hockey, softball, and basketball at East Rochester High School and was a two-time state champion in field hockey. She was named to the All-State Tournament Team, was a First Team All-State and All-Monroe County selection, and was tabbed the Player of the Year for Monroe County field hockey.
"I am looking forward to returning to the Division III level," noted Archambeau. "I am also excited to return to the Rochester area, where my playing and coaching careers both began."
The East Rochester, NY native recently completed her Master of Business Administration in Sports Management at Seton Hill. She received her bachelor's degree in Psychology with minors in Sociology and Family Studies from Seton Hill.
