Trevor Amalfitano, Athlete, New Paltz
Trevor Amalfitano was the offensive catalyst this past weekend, including during a crucial last-second road win over Plattsburgh Friday night. The sophomore kept the Hawks afloat throughout the contest against the Cardinals, finishing with a career- and game-high 33 points on 61 percent shooting, making a career-high 14-for-23 from the field including 4-for-9 from 3-point range, while adding a team-high six rebounds with a block and a steal in 80-79 victory that clinched the No. 4 seed in the SUNYAC playoffs. Amalfitano backed up that performance with a quick 21 points on a productive 6-for-10 shooting in 27 minutes, while adding a team-high nine rebounds and two blocks. He also made 9-for-12 from the foul line, including 3-for-4 (he grabbed his own miss and got hit again) in the final seconds to ice the 94-90 victory over hosting Potsdam.
