ECAC recognizes three SUNYAC Players of the Week
The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) honored three State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Athletes of the Week ending March 22, 2015.
Division III Mid-Atlantic Men's Lacrosse Co-Defensive Player of the Week:
Pete Gropp – SUNY Potsdam, Junior, Goalkeeper, Fairpoirt, N.Y.
Gropp had a 4.50 goals-against-average and a .710 save percentage. In his first collegiate start against Castleton on Tuesday, Gropp made 13 saves in Potsdam's 14-3 win over Castleton. He then finished the week with nine saves in an 11-7 win over Kean.
Division III Upstate Softball Pitcher of the Week:
Sarah Salamone – SUNY Cortland, Sr., P, Liverpool, N.Y.
Salamone went 2-0 with a paltry 0.43 earned run average for Cortland last week. The senior tallied victories over Eastern Connecticut and Centenary while allowing just a single earned run in 16-plus innings of work.
Division III Upstate Baseball Player of the Week:
Connor Griffin – SUNY Cortland, Junior, 2B, Cortland, N.Y.
Griffin, who stepped into the Red Dragons' starting lineup due to an injury, went 7-for-13 over the week and helped Cortland to a three-game sweep of SUNY New Paltz. In the three games against the Hawks, Griffin went a combined 6-for-11 with a double, walk, hit-by-pitch, sac fly, three runs and seven RBI. He was 3-for-3 with a walk and double in a 6-1 victory and drove in three runs each during the other two wins (16-2 and 9-2).
