Cortland Men's Lacrosse No. 1 in 2023 SUNYAC Preseason Poll
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The 2022 SUNYAC men's lacrosse champions, Cortland, secured the No. 1 spot in the 2023 preseason poll voted on by the conference coaches. Geneseo was voted No. 2 followed by Oneonta.
Cortland earned their fourth-straight and 28th overall men's lacrosse SUNYAC championship title last season. Following the win, the Red Dragons earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III men's lacrosse second round. Cortland's 10-game winning streak ended with a loss against St. Lawrence finishing the 2022 season 13-7 overall.
The Knights are hoping for another run at the conference title in the 2023 season. With a one goal deficit in the 2022 championship, Geneseo fell to the Red Dragons of Cortland, 7-6 ending the season 9-8 overall. This season the Knights look to capture their fourth overall conference title and first since 2007.
Oneonta will play to win its first-ever SUNYAC championship in 2023. In the 2022 SUNYAC semifinals, the fourth-seeded Red Dragons were defeated by top-seeded Cortland. The team will look to improve upon its 4-11 overall record from last season.
Men's lacrosse conference competition will begin March 25. The championship tournament will start with the semifinals May 3rd followed by the championship game May 6th. Full Bracket
