Oneonta and Cortland to Host SUNYAC Soccer Finals
The SUNY Oneonta women's soccer team and the SUNY Cortland men's soccer team both added a win to their overall record today and earned home field advantage for the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Soccer Championship game, Saturday.
On the women's side, top-seeded Oneonta defeated No. 4 Brockport, 2-1 while the Knights upset second-seeded Buffalo State, 2-1, Wednesday afternoon. Oneonta will face No. 6 Geneseo at 1:00 p.m. Saturday. In the regular season the Red Dragons and the Knights played to a double overtime 1-1 tie.
The men's second-seeded Cortland edged No. 3Â Brockport, 1-0 while Plattsburgh upset the top-seeded Oneonta, 1-0 in the semifinals. The Red Dragons will take on the fourth-seeded Cardinals Saturday at 11:00 a.m.. At their last meeting this season Cortland topped Plattsburgh 2-1 in overtime.
The SUNYAC Champions will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Soccer Tournament.
