Mancias Magana and Blugh Selected SUNYAC Men's Soccer Athletes of the Week
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Oneonta's Milton Mancias Magana has been named the SUNYAC Men's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week and Cortland's Ian Blugh is the Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Mancias Magana had three points with a game-winning goal and game-winning assist in a 2-0 week for Oneonta. On Wednesday, Mancias scored the game-winner in the 60th minute of the Red Dragons 1-0 victory against Plattsburgh State. In their 2-1 win over Oswego State, Mancias recorded the assist on the game-winning header. This season, Mancias is tied for the team lead in goals (6), assists (4), and points (16).
Blugh helped nationally 17th-ranked Cortland secure two home conference wins last week from his central defender position. In a come-from-behind 2-1 victory versus New Paltz on Wednesday, Blugh scored two second-half goals and anchored a defense that held the Hawks to zero second-half shots. He then led the Red Dragon defense in a 2-0 win versus Geneseo on Saturday, holding the Knights to three shots on goal as Cortland won its seventh straight game and posted its fifth shutout of the season.
