Cortland Takes 2026 SUNYAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship Crown
CORTLAND, N.Y. - Cortland won the 2026 SUNYAC men's outdoor track and field championship Saturday at Cortland's Stadium Complex. The team totaled 240 points over the two-day championship that ran Friday and Saturday. This is the Cortland Red Dragons second straight and 16th overall SUNYAC men's outdoor track and field championship title. PSU-Behrend finished second while Buffalo State was third.
Awards
The SUNYAC Most Valuable Performer is awarded to the athlete with the most combined points at the SUNYAC two-day championship meet. Penn State Behrend's Carter Tobin earned this recognition after totaling 20.5 points.
The Rookie of the Meet is the student-athlete of who scores the most team points across first-year competitors at the conference championship. Buffalo State's Ricky Curiel earned this honor with 16 points.
The All-Conference first, second and third teams consist of the top three finishers in each event.
The SUNYAC Elite 20, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.
This year's winner is Plattsburgh's Ethan Cypress. He is a sophomore Biomedical sciences major with a 4.0 overall GPA.
