Sample won the long jump at the blue devil invitation with a best of 7.26 meters (23 feet, 10 inches), hitting that mark twice, and adding a 7.15 and 7.02 to complete a dominant series; no other athlete in the field reached 7.00. He is ranked 15th nationally for Long Jump. He was also apart of the 4X100 relay team that took first with a time of 3:34.92 which was a school record.
