Thirteen Hawks Named to Easton/NFCA All-America Softball Scholar Athlete List

New Paltz, NY — The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) recognized the 2023-24 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes with 13 Hawks selected for their prowess in the classroom.
The Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete award is given to a student-athlete with a 3.5 or better cumulative GPA through the 2023-24 academic year. The State University of New York New Paltz had a historic year on the field, as the team captured the program's first ever SUNYAC title after earning the top seed of the tournament for the second-straight year, also a program first. The team broke program records in overall wins (36) and conference wins (17), which they had set last season, while appearing in the program's first NCAA Tournament, which saw the Hawks earn a win in the Rowan Regional.
The success on the field flooded into the classroom, as the team finished with a spring GPA of 3.45 and a cumulative GPA of 3.36. The team upped their selections from last year with nine named following what was another historic campaign in 2022-23.
Earning a spot on the 2023-24 Easton/NFCA All-America Softball Scholar Athlete list were freshman infielder Maddie Anderson, senior infielder Rhionna Bianchini, graduate student outfielder Sydney Bonewit, junior outfielder Sophia D'Arcangelis, senior outfielder Nicole Greco, freshman outfielder Kate Hope, senior catcher Kelly Marmorowski, sophomore outfielder Kelsey O'Brien, senior outfielder Jackie Rometo, senior pitcher Lindsay Roman, freshman catcher Halle Sacharoff, senior infielder Isabella Shepherd and junior pitcher Sydney Waldon. Bianchini, Bonewit, O'Brien, Roman, Rometo, Shepherd and Waldon were each named last year as well.
