Brianna Fitzgerald Named to Second D3Hoops Team of the Week Honor
New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York New Paltz graduate guard/forward Brianna Fitzgerald was named to her fourth career D3Hoops Team of the Wek honor Tuesday after making history as just the 10th player ever in Division III women's basketball to record a quadruple double.
Fitzgerald was joined by four others, which included Geneva's Emily Garvin, Connecticut College's Sofia Tavarez, Bethel's Emily Erickson and Washington & Lee's Mary Schleusner.
In an already illustrious career, Brianna Fitzgerald etched her name in NCAA Division III basketball to record a quadruple double and she did so in just three quarters and 27 minutes of action in an 85-41 rout of Potsdam Friday night. Her stat line finished as 15 points (6-for-8 shooting) and game-high's 12 rebounds, 10 assists and 11 steals with one block, while setting a career-high in steals and matching a career-high in assists.
Fitzgerald opened the week with her fourth double-double of the season in an 83-62 blowout on the road over Canton, as she finished with 14 points and game-high's 10 rebounds and six assists, while adding two steals and a block in 38 minutes. She then finished the weekend with her seventh 20-plus point outing of the season, recording a game-high 20 points on 7-for-12 shooting in 35 minutes with eight rebounds, a game-high five assists, three steals and a block. Fitzgerald averaged 16.3 points on 51.4 percent shooting, 10.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 5.3 steals per game.
