Plattsburgh's Bergé, LeDuc, and Rhoads Each Earn CSC Academic All-District Women's Track and Field Honors
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Women's Track & Field Teams were released on Tuesday, with senior Katie Bergé (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius), Marissa LeDuc (Saranac, N.Y./Saranac), and Bliss Rhoads (Copake, N.Y./ Taconic Hills) each earning the postseason honors.
To be eligible for this honor, individuals must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and be a sophomore academically and athletically while also placing in the top 50 in their region in a single event.
Bergé, who carried a cumulative GPA of 3.76 as a biomedical sciences major, competed mostly in the pentathlon and heptathlon this season for the Cardinals. The senior placed 10th at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Indoor Championships in the pentathlon and was able to score for Plattsburgh in the heptathlon at the SUNYAC Outdoor Championships, placing 7th. In her final meet of the season before the conference championships, she earned a first-place finish at the St. Lawrence Intercollegiate Athletics Twilight Meeting in the high jump, clearing 1.40 meters.
LeDuc had a solid campaign for the Cardinals as a sophomore, holding a 3.51 cumulative GPA through her second year with Plattsburgh. Competing in the pentathlon and heptathlon this season, LeDuc scored for the Cardinals at the SUNYAC Indoor Championships, earning an eighth-place finish in the pentathlon. She earned a 13th-place finish at the outdoor championships in the heptathlon, earning the third-best mark in the shotput event. The Saranac native had a strong outing to finish the regular season, placing first in the 100-meter hurdles and long jump at the St. Lawrence Intercollegiate Athletics Twilight Meeting at the end of April.
Rhoads was a consistent threat to earn points for the Cardinals all season, helping to place in each throwing event she competed in throughout the season while holding a 3.83 cumulative GPA. The senior placed 11th in the shotput with her career-best throw of 10.99 meters at the SUNYAC Indoor Championships, while also placing 17th in the weight throw. At the Outdoor Championships, she placed 15th in the shot put and 9th in the javelin throw. In February, Rhoads had a strong end to the indoor regular season, placing first in the shotput and second in the weight throw at the SLU Open.
