Pirrera Selected SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Scholar Athlete of the Year
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Cortland's Kira Pirrera is the 2025 SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Scholar Athlete of the Year as nominated and voted on by the conference sports information directors.
Pirrera was an AVCA honorable mention All-American and first team All-Region 3 outside hitter in 2025. She was also named the SUNYAC Player of the Year and CSC Academic All-District. Pirrera played in all 114 sets over 32 matches totaling 435 kills, .226 attack percentage, 54 aces, 338 digs and 54 blocks. She led her team in kills and aces and was second in digs. The Red Dragons finished 24-8 (9-0 SUNYAC) and won SUNYAC regular-season and tournament titles.
Pirrera is a junior inclusive childhood education major with a 3.89 overall GPA. She has been named to the SUNYAC Commissioner's Academic List the last two years.
In order to be eligible for the SUNYAC Scholar Athlete of the Year award student-athletes must prove both academic and athletic excellence by obtaining a minimum 3.30 overall GPA, be a starter or significant reserve for their team, and be at least a sophomore. The SUNYAC Scholar Athlete Award began in 2016-17.
