No. 5 Salisbury Field Hockey soars in SUNYAC Semifinals over Oneonta

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The No. 5 Salisbury University field hockey program earned a spot in the State of New York Athletic Conference Tournament Championship with a 6-0 win over SUNY Oneonta Friday afternoon at North Turf Field on the campus of host SUNY New Paltz.
The Sea Gulls struck first, eight minutes into the contest, when Kaitlyn DeModna found McKenna Horner to give SU the first-quarter lead. The teams ended the first with a Sea Gull 1-0 lead, which would not last long as Horner was just getting started.
44 seconds into the second period of action, Horner tallied her second goal of the game off an assist from Marli McDorman. Just over a minute later, Horner would earn a hat trick, this time with an assist from Caroline Pusey. The SU offense would keep rolling before the halftime break, adding two more goals after Horner's third. McDorman added another assist off a goal from Madelyn Reed, while DeModna would go on to score an unassisted goal with just over five minutes until the halftime break.
The Sea Gulls outshot the Red Dragons 24-1 in the first half while also earning 14 penalty corners to zero for Oneonta. Kelly Webber scored the final goal for the Sea Gulls just over a minute into the third frame.

- SU finished with 39 shots, putting 26 of those on target.
- They went on to earn four penalty corners in the second half for a total of 18
- This was Horner's second career hat trick performance and third game this season with multiple goals.
Salisbury will take on SUNY Cortland for the SUNYAC Tournament Title tomorrow at noon on the campus of SUNY New Paltz.
