Plattsburgh Women's Ice Hockey's Balfour, Cho, Francis, Masotta, Norton, and Thompson Named AHCA All-American Scholars

GLOUCESTER, Mass. – Taya Balfour (Moorestown, N.J./Philadelphia Jr. Flyers), Su-An Cho (Madison, Ala./Florida Alliance), Sydnee Francis (Canton, N.Y./Nepean Jr. Wildcats), Julia Masotta (Tewksbury, Mass./Norwich), Mattie Norton (Glen Carbon, Ill./St. Louis Lady Blues), and Aizah Thompson (Williamsville, N.Y./Buffalo Bisons) of the Plattsburgh State women's ice hockey team have been named 2022-23 Krampade/American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-American Scholars, as announced by the AHCA.
In order to qualify for Krampade/AHCA All-American Scholar recognition, student-athletes must achieve a 3.75 GPA each semester and appear in 40% of the season's total games.
Masotta will complete her childhood education degree in the fall while joining six other student-athletes who were both All-Americans and All-American scholars. Thompson is pursuing dual degrees in economics and finance, Balfour is majoring in business administration and Cho is majoring in accounting, with Norton pursuing a degree in both accounting and business administration. Francis finished her first year in college as she is working towards a degree in nursing at Plattsburgh State.
Plattsburgh State went 22-5-1 and 16-2 in league play this season, falling in the conference championship game while earning the second overall seed in the NCAA Tournament before falling in quarterfinal action to Middlebury.
