Knaynik and Laster Named SUNYAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Alfred State's Oli Knaynik is recognized as the SUNYAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week and Buffalo State's Makhia Laster is the Field Athlet eof the Week.
Kraynik tallied her first win of the indoor season after finishing first in the 800-meter run at the Riverhawk invite. She crossed the line in 2:24.08, which is the best time in the conference and puts her at 38th in the nation. She was also part of the distance medley team that took fourth place.
Laster earned the win and picked up a school record distance in the long jump at 5.80 meters at the SUNY Brockport Invite. That mark gives Laster the record in both the indoor and outdoor long jump at Buffalo State as she broke Niasha Houpe's leap of 5.79 meters from back in 2015. Laster's jump currently sits first in the SUNYAC and tied for third in the nation.
