Oneonta Men's Cross Country Named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team
The Oneonta State men’s cross country team was one of 125 programs recognized as a 2010 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III All-Academic Cross Country team, as announced Friday by the USTFCCCA.
The Red Dragons boast a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.10 and were the only State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) institution to earn the honor.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country team, the team must have a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or better and have compiled a score (finished at least five runners) at their respective NCAA regional championship.
A total of 125 institutions from 32 conferences earned All-Academic status. The MIAC and NESCAC led all conferences with nine members earning All-Academic honors and was followed by the SCAC which had eight listed.
Earlham reported the highest cumulative GPA among All-Academic honorees with a 3.58. Stevens followed with a 3.56.
With sophomore Nick Madison leading the way, the Oneonta men finished 16th overall at the Regional meet with 448 points. Madison completed the 8K run in a time of 26:08 to finish 42nd overall. Right behind him was Tim Greenberg who came across the line in 73rd with a time of 26:43. Rounding out the seven Oneonta runners was John Longo (78), Chris Harvey (111), David Goodge (144), Mitchell Todorov (147), and Matt Laroe (150).
