Bruno and Colucci Tabbed SUNYAC Baseball Athletes of the Week
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The SUNYAC picks Cortland's Mat Bruno as this week's Baseball Athlete of the Week and Brockport's Matthew Colucci as the Pitcher of the Week.
Bruno batted .500 (6-for-12) with a double, triple, three RBI, five runs and six walks in a 4-0 week for the Red Dragons. He finished with a .667 on-base percentage over the four games. He was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs in an 8-6 win over Clarkson on Wednesday, went 2-for-5 with a double and RBI in a 9-7 win over New Paltz Saturday in the opening game of a doubleheader, then walked three times, tripled and scored twice in a 5-2 win in the nightcap. He finished the week Sunday by going 1-for-2 with two walks and two RBI in a 6-2 victory versus New Paltz.
Colucci pitched a full nine inning game this Saturday without letting up a single hit until the last out of the ninth inning. Colucci threw a 1-hitter game and contributed greatly to the 5-0 shut out for the Golden Eagles. He struck out 14 batters and had an era of 0.0.
