Glamos, Egbert and Shiller Recognized with SUNYAC Men's Ice Hockey Weekly Honors
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC has honored Joe Glamos from Buffalo State, Nolan Egbert from Brockport, and Eli Shiller from Plattsburgh, as this week's Men's Ice Hockey Athlete, Goaltender and Rookie of the Week respectively.
Glamos had an excellent showing for Buffalo State as the Bengals earned a huge rivalry game victory over Fredonia by a final score of 6-2 in the "Battle by the Lake" on Friday evening. The sophomore forward recorded four points on two goals, including the game-winning goal, and two assists, as well as a plus (+) 4 rating and winning 14 of 18 faceoff attempts in the contest. Glamos scored the opening goal of the game just over four minutes into the opening period, blasting a rebound into the top corner of the net. He later scored the game-winning goal in the second period, picking up the puck at the Bengals' blue line, skating around a pair of defenders, and snapping a wrist shot into the top right corner of the net. The Buffalo State alternate captain added a pair of primary assists in the third period to seal the win.
Egbert started a total of two games, and played all 60 minutes. Brockport won both of these games. In Wednesday game against Morrisville Nolan made 41 saves and allowed two goals, giving him a save percentage of .953%. In Saturday nights game against Canton Egbert made a total of 25 saves, allowing two goals giving him a save percentage of .926%. He has an overall save percentage of .943% for the weekend and 1.00 win percentage.
Shiller fashioned a 1.00 goals-against average and a .941 save percentage while making 32 saves in a 2-0-0 week for the Cardinals. He made 21 stops in a 6-1 win over No. 6 Oswego State on Friday before turning aside 11 shots in a 2-1 victory over SUNY Cortland on Saturday. For the season, he leads the SUNYAC in goals-against average (1.23) and save percentage (.948).
