Cortland graduate student Amarian Hughes (Newburgh/Marlboro) has been named the 2025 Niagara Region Division III Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year and Red Dragon head coach Steve Patrick has been honored as the 2025 Niagara Region Division III Men's Track and Field Coach of the Year by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Hughes won the NCAA Division III title in the triple jump with a distance of 15.35 meters (50' 4.5"). That effort broke his own school record of 15.34 meters, which he set while winning the SUNYAC title in the event.
Patrick led Cortland's men to a fifth-place national team finish, a third-place showing at the AARTFC Championships and a first-place finish out of 12 schools at the SUNYAC Championships. The Red Dragons earned two national titles - Hughes in the triple jump and the 4x400-meter relay - along with three other first-team All-America honors.
