Geneseo walks for Breast Cancer awareness
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Three teams from the SUNY Geneseo Athletic Department participated in the 20th-Annual American Cancer Society "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" walk, Sunday morning.
Â
Nearly 100 Geneseo student-athletes took to the streets of downtown Rochester and walked the two and a half mile course that started at Frontier Field. The Knights' lineup included members of the men's and women's swimming and diving, women's soccer and women's basketball teams.
Â
Each individual team raised funds to contribute to the cause, led by a $6,962 donation from the swimming and diving programs, the third-largest total of any team in attendance.
Â
Overall, more than 10,000 people gathered to make strides against breast cancer and over $655,000 was raised for the American Cancer Society to further invest in research, technology and early treatment awareness.
