Brockport Men's and Women's Basketball "Take a Kid to a Game Day" a Success
The College at Brockport Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams hosted the first ever “Take A Kid to a Game Day” on Saturday, Jan. 12 as the Golden Eagles hosted the Plattsburgh Cardinals.
Kids of all ages were invited to the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium to take part in an entire day filled with activities. During timeouts, selected contestants were invited down to half court where they participated in “Are you Smarter than Ellsworth?” where kids were given a question to answer against Brockport’s mascot Ellsworth.
Ellsworth also dished out t-shirts during the game as part of the “T’s for Threes” promotion as the Golden Eagles lit up the scoreboard with three-point shots. The two teams combined for 21 three-pointers on the day.
Event coordinator Liam Welsh praised the overall success of the promotion. “This day was a great chance for kids throughout the community to see our teams in action” said Welsh. “It was a great opportunity for us to get fans to the game during the intercession break here on campus. The kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves throughout the entire day.”
Almost 100 children were in attendance over the course of the afternoon.
Following each game, both teams provided an autograph session for all children in attendance. Kids were provided with t-shirts, water bottles, team photos and other giveaways for Brockport players to sign.
