ECAC Selects Marshall as Division III Upstate Player of the Week
CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Plattsburgh State sophomore Brittany Marshall (Malone, NY) has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Upstate Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Marshall averaged 20 points per game in a pair of Plattsburgh State victories last week. She poured in a game-high 21 points to lead the Cardinals in their 79-50 romp over Fredonia State on Friday (Dec. 7) before turning in a 19-point performance in a 71-60 victory over Buffalo State – the first win for the Cardinals over the Bengals since the 2008-09 campaign. Through the two-game set, Marshall connected on 50 percent (16-of-32) of her field goal attempts and handed out eight assists.
Through seven games this season, Marshall is averaging 13.7 points per game – good for the seventh-highest scoring average in the SUNYAC. In addition to her prolific point-producing ways, the 5-5 guard is tops in the conference in terms of assists per game, having dished out 33 for an average of 4.7 per tilt.
Thanks in large part to Marshall, the Cardinals are off to a 5-2 start – their best since the 2001-02 season. Plattsburgh State sits in third place in the SUNYAC standings with a 3-1 record in league contests.
