Julia Sabatino Tabbed 2025 SUNYAC Women's Basketball Scholar Athlete of the Year
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC honors New Paltz's Julia Sabatino as its 2025 Women's Basketball Scholar Athlete of the Year. This award is nominated and voted on by the conference sports information directors. Recipients are at least a sophomore, hold a 3.30 GPA or higher and display academic and athletic excellence as a starter or significant reserve player.
Sabatino was the 2025 SUNYAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year, the first in New Paltz's program history. She was named to the D3Hoops.com All-Region III team and the first team All-SUNYAC. Sabatino led her team and the SUNYAC with a career-high 133 assists, averaging nearly five per game. She finished second on the team in points, scoring a career-high 286 points, while averaging 10.6 per game. Sabatino was just five shy of leading the team on the glass as well, grabbing a career-high 193 rebounds to average 7.1 per game.
Sabatio is a two-time SUNYAC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll recipient and a two-time Hawks Academic Honor Roll honoree. She recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall working towards her master's in business administration and maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.94.
