Cardinals, Bantams Set to Clash in NCAA Men's Hockey Quarterfinals
HARTFORD, Conn. – For the first time since the 2011-12 campaign, the Plattsburgh State men's hockey team – which is currently ranked third in the nation in the USCHO.com poll – will be making an appearance in the NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Tournament.
The Cardinals (20-5-2) secured an automatic bid into the tournament in addition to a first-round bye into the quarterfinals by defeating Oswego State 2-1 in the SUNYAC Championship game at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena on March 7.
Plattsburgh State will head south to take on No. 7-ranked Trinity College (22-3-1) who advanced to the second round of the national tournament by taking out Nichols by a 4-2 tally last Saturday night.
At stake when the two on-ice combatants lock horns at 7 p.m. on Saturday in the Koeppel Community Sports Center is a spot in the semifinals which will take place on Friday, March 27, at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, Minn.
Ticket prices have been set by the NCAA and are $6 for adults, $4 for senior citizens (65+) and students ages 12 and up. Children ages 2-12 will be charged $3 while all children under the age of two will be admitted free of charge.
Tickets will be available for purchase beginning at 6 p.m. on the day of the game in the front lobby of the Koeppel Community Sports Center.
Additionally, an allotment of 200 tickets will be available for purchase in the main athletic offices located on the third floor of Memorial Hall from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (March 18-20). Cash or personal checks are the only two forms of payment that will be accepted and those paying by personal check should make it out to Plattsburgh State Athletics.
