Oswego picked No. 1 in SUNYAC ice hockey preseason poll
CORTLAND, N.Y. - Oswego has been picked No.1 in the 2014-15 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's ice hockey preseason poll after receiving five first place votes and 61 total votes from the conference coaches.
Oswego finished the 2013-14 season on top after they won the SUNYAC title. They completed the year with a 10-4-1 record in conference and 22-6-2 record overall. They have won the SUNYAC title the past two years and have reached the Frozen Four five consecutive times.
With 58 points and four first place votes, Geneseo has been ranked No. 2 in the preseason poll. Last year they finished second in the SUNYAC tournament just behind Oswego after losing 7-6 in the SUNYAC final. After receiving an at large bid, they, along with Oswego, reached the Frozen Four. Geneseo is looking for their first SUNYAC title since going back-to-back in the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons.
SUNYAC games begin in less than two weeks with the first face-offs set for Friday, October 31. The six-team SUNYAC tournament will start February 25 on campuses with the top-two teams receiving a first-round bye.
