SUNYAC basketball and ice hockey set for semifinals
CORTLAND, N.Y. -Â The first round of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) basketball and ice hockey championships are in the books. Men's and women's basketball will play its semifinals and finals Friday and Saturday while ice hockey will play its semifinals Saturday. The final ice hockey game is set for March 5.

Brockport men's basketball defeated Buffalo State in a nail biter 82-78. Despite a late run from Buffalo State, Brockport held them off as Hamed Shamseldin led the way with 24 points [Box Score]. The other game featured Oswego and Geneseo. Oswego won 75-59 behind a strong performance by Brian Sortino scoring 23 points [Box Score]. Second-seeded Cortland will face #3 Brockport at 5:30 p.m. while top-seeded Plattsburgh will play #4 Oswego at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Fredonia women's baksetball stormed back to defeat Brockport in overtime by the score of 89-81 led by Sabrina Macaulay scoring 33 points [Box Score]. #5 Oneonta topped #4 Cortland, 68-58, in the other playoff game with Lyteshia Price scoring 26 points [Box Score]. The semifinals will feature #2 Geneseo facing #3 Fredonia at 5:30 p.m. and #1 New Paltz vs. Oneonta at 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 26. Plattsburgh ice hockey will host #4 Oswego Saturday at 7 p.m. The Lakers beat #5 Brockport, 8-0, at home Wednesday night [Box Score]. Third-seeded Geneseo will travel to #2 Buffalo State to faceoff Saturday at 7 p.m. The Knights defeated #6 Potsdam, 4-1, Wednesday night [Box Score].  Â
