2025 SUNYAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Awards Released
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC announces its 2025 Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year, Field Athlete of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Coaching Staff of the Year awards as voted on by the conference coaches.
Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year – Josh Jeffes, Cortland
Jeffes broke the Cortland and SUNYAC record when he won the 400-meter dash at the AARTFC championship meet this season. He was named All-Niagara Region in the 200-meter, 400-meter and 4x400-meter relay. Jeffes was the SUNYAC champion in the 200-meter and 400-meter races. He went on to finish seventh in the 400-meter at the 2025 NCAA championship meet. This season Jeffes and his team were ranked eighth nationally in the 4x400-meter relay.
Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year - Isaiah Brunache, Cortland
Brunache was undefeated in the shot put up until the NCAA championships. He broke his own school and SUNYAC record in the shot put at the NCAA meet to finish second in Division III. Brunache was the AARTFC champion in the shot put and finished fourth in the discuss throw to earn all-Niagara regional honors in both events. He was the SUNYAC champion in the shot put and he also finished second in the discus throw and fourth in the hammer throw. Brunache was named the 2025 Most Valuable Performer for accumulating the most individual points overall at the conference meet.
Men's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Year - Ayobami Adebayo, Oneonta
Adebayo, also the 2025 SUNYAC Men's Indoor Track and Field Rookie of the Year, was the conference champion in the high jump and was the runner up in the triple jump. In addition, he finished 13th in the long jump at the conference championship in his first year competing for the Oneonta Red Dragons. Adebayo went on to finish fourth in the high jump at the 2025 AARTFC championship meet.
Men's Outdoor Track & Field Coaching Staff of the Year - Cortland
Steve Patrick, the head coach of the Cortland men's track and field team, is assisted by Chad Dunham, Peter McGinnis, Curtis Merrick, Maris Seabury, Mitch Makowski and Marissa Formes-Patrick. In 2025, the staff led their team to the program's 15th overall SUNYAC men's outdoor track and field championship title. This was Cortland's first men's outdoor track and field conference crown since 2017. Nineteen Red Dragons earned All-SUNYAC honors after finishing in the top three at the championship meet. Thirteen athletes advanced to the NCAAs where the team finished tied for 13th place out of 126 schools. The Red Dragons had three All-American first-team performances in the shot put, triple jump and 400-meter. They also brought home second team All-America honors in the 400-meter and 4x100-meter relay events.
