Cortland's Isaiah Brunache and Steve Patrick Earn USTFCCCA Niagara Region Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Awards

Cortland graduate student Josh Jeffes (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville) has been selected as the 2025 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year and junior Isaiah Brunache (Bennington, VT/Mount Anthony Union) is the SUNYAC Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year in a vote of the league's coaches.
In addition, Cortland head coach Steve Patrick and his assistants, Chad Dunham, Peter McGinnis, Curtis Merrick, Maris Seabury, Mitch Makowski and Marissa Formes-Patrick, have been named both the SUNYAC Men's Coaching Staff of the Year and the SUNYAC Women's Coaching Staff of the Year for the outdoor season.
The league's postseason awards are given out following the completion of the NCAA championship meets and recognize performances throughout the entire season.
Jeffes earned both the indoor and outdoor SUNYAC Track Athlete of the Year awards this spring. During the outdoor season he earned first team All-America honors with a seventh-place national finish in the 400-meter dash at the NCAA Division III Championships and also qualified for nationals as part of Cortland's 4x400-meter relay team. Jeffes won the 400-meter title at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) championship with a school-record time of 46.63 seconds, and he claimed SUNYAC titles in both the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes.
Brunache was the national runner-up in the shot put at the NCAA Division III Championships with a school-record toss of 18.21 meters (59' 9"). He won the AARTFC title in the shot put and placed fourth in the discus, and at the SUNYAC championship meet he earned Most Valuable Performer of the Meet honors after scoring 23 points by winning the shot put, placing second in the discus and finishing fourth in the hammer throw.
Patrick and his staff were honored during both the indoor and outdoor seasons by the conference on both the men's and women's sides. This spring Cortland's men won the SUNYAC title, was AARTFC runner-up and tied for 13th place nationally. The Red Dragons had three first team All-Americans along with a second team individual All-American, a second team All-America relay, and national qualifiers in two other events. Cortland's women won the SUNYAC title and had a national qualifier in the hammer throw.
