Wright and Gemmet Earn SUNYAC Softball Weekly Honors
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Cortland's Halle Wright and Plattsburgh's Carly Gemmett have been recognized for their standout performances during the team's spring training trips, earning SUNYAC weekly honors.
Wright was a force at the plate, batting .440 (11-for-25) across 8 games. She contributed a triple, double, six walks, and 3 stolen bases. Her best performances included a perfect 4-for-4 outing with a triple, RBI, 3 runs, and 2 steals in a 9-6 victory over Smith College. She also went 2-for-2 in a game against nationally 18th-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater and delivered a 2-for-3 effort with a double, walk, three RBI, and two runs scored in a win over the University of New England.
Gemmett repeats as the SUNYAC Softball Pitcher of the Week after she continued her strong start to the 2025 season recording two more wins on the mound for Plattsburgh. The senior right-hander totaled 22 innings on the week, throwing complete games in the final two games of the week, while striking out 35 batters for an astounding 11.17 strikeouts per 7 innings. Her week was highlighted by a complete game, one-hit shutout to finish the Plattsburgh Florida trip, as she struck out 12 batters, allowing just three base runners and taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning. Gemmett currently leads the SUNYAC in strikeouts (48) and strikeouts per 7 innings (11.59).
