Cortland Captures 2025 SUNYAC Softball Title
CORTLAND, N.Y. - No. 1 Cortland came back in the seventh inning to defeat No. 5 Oneonta, 4-3, and win its 17th overall SUNYAC softball championship crown, Sunday at Cortland's Dragon Field. Cortland last won the title in 2019. With the win, the Red Dragons earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III tournament.
Cortland's senior rightfielder, Lainie Ornstein was named the SUNYAC Softball MVP after she started the winning rally with a walk. She also tallied four hits in three games to help the Red Dragons go undefeated in the tournament.
