Serena and Endieveri Earn SUNYAC Softball Weekly Awards
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Oneonta's Julia Serena and Cortland's Gianna Endieveri have been named the SUNYAC Softball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
Serena continued her outstanding senior campaign, going 15-for-30 for a .500 batting average with six doubles, two home runs, and 12 RBI. She helped lead Oneonta to a 6-2 SUNYAC record over the week. Serena opened with a 2-for-6 performance against New Paltz, then erupted for a combined 5-for-9 with 3 doubles, a homer, and 5 RBIs at Oswego. Against Potsdam, she went 3-for-7 with another home run and 4 RBIs, and capped off the week going 5-for-8 with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs in a sweep of Plattsburgh. Serena continues leading the SUNYAC in batting average (.476), home runs (7), and RBIs (31).
Endieveri anchored Cortland's pitching during a perfect 6-0 week, compiling a 3-0 record with a 0.50 ERA and a save. The freshman right-hander struck out 15 batters and allowed just 1 run on 8 hits over 14 innings of work. Her week was highlighted by a 5-inning no-hitter in a 9-0 win over Oswego, in which she struck out 8 and walked 1. She also recorded a clutch save at Fredonia, entering the 7th with a runner on and no outs and retiring all 3 batters she faced, including 2 by strikeout. Endieveri added another win later that day, tossing 4 scoreless innings, and closed out her week with 4 strong innings in a win over Morrisville, surrendering just 1 run.
