Buffalo State's Henry, Dunham Each Claim NCAA Titles at DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships
LA CROSSE, Wisc.—Buffalo State’s Sasha Henry (Mt. Vernon/Mt. Vernon) and Jazmin Dunham (Rochester/Greece-Olympia) each raced to national championships and collected three All-America certificates apiece on the final day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships today hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Buffalo State posted its highest-ever national finish, tying for third place despite having just four athletes involved in the scoring. The Bengals finished with 41 total points, just five behind the national champion Wartburg (46).
Henry, a senior who also won this year’s indoor 60-meter dash national title, sprinted to the crown in the 100-meter dash in 12.01 seconds. She was also the runner-up in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.43 seconds.
Dunham, a junior, captured her first national championship, blazing to a school record time of 24.34 seconds in the 200-meter dash. She crossed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.40 seconds, and brought her career All-America certificate total to six.
Henry and Dunham also teamed with Patrice Johnson (Bronx/Cardinal Spellman) and Shuntone Pricher (Brooklyn/Transit Tech) to better the Buffalo State school record they set on Thursday and place second in the 4x100-meter relay, clocking 46.22 seconds.
