    SUNYAC women's lacrosse annual conference awards announced

    CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) is proud to recognize and award this season's Player of the Year, Defender of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Coach of the Year and All-Conference teams for the 2015 Women's lacrosse season. All awards were voted on by the SUNYAC women's lacrosse conference coaches.

    Emma Hayes- Hurley (Huntington, N.Y.) from Cortland is this season's Player of the Year. Colleen Hathaway (Watertown, N.Y.) from Brockport was awarded Defender of the Year. Taylor Casey (Garden City South, N.Y.) from Oneonta was named Rookie of the Year. The 2014-2015 Coach of the Year award goes to Cortland's Kelly Lickert-Orr.

    Cortland's Emma Hayes-Hurley ranks No. 2 in the conference with an average of 4 goals per game. She leads the conference in draw controls averaging over nine per game. Hayes-Hurley helped lead her team to the 2015 SUNYAC Championship title and was named to the 2015 SUNYAC All-Tournament team.

    Colleen Hathaway was a strong force on Brockport's defense. She averaged over 2.3 caused turnovers per game in the conference and over 2.5 ground balls per game. She was also named to the 2015 SUNYAC All-Tournament team.

    Taylor Casey had a successful freshman year for Oneonta. She is ranked third in the conference in goals per game.  She averaged 4.11 points per game in conference play. Casey leads the Red Dragons of Oneonta in points for the season.  

    Coach Kelly Lickert-Orr led Cortland to their 17th straight and 18th overall SUNYAC title in her first season as head coach. Cortland finished 8-0 in the conference. Their current record, going into the NCAA tournament, is 17-1. Cortland is ranked first in the region and moved up to second in Division III
