Atwater and Olshansky Tabbed SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - New Paltz's Lexi Atwater is this week's Women's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week, while Plattsburgh's Mae Olshansky is the Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Atwater was the offensive catalyst in the Hawks regular season finale win over Oneonta Wednesday, which clinched them the No. 3 seed in the SUNYAC Tournament, as she finished with six goals and an assist for seven points, ranking tied for fourth in single game goals and tied for sixth in single-game points in program history while marking her third game of six or more goals. She also added two ground balls and six draw controls with one caused turnover in the victory. In the Hawks' quarterfinal win over Fredonia, Atwater added four goals on six shots.
Olshansky had a strong performance in goal for the Cardinals in their season finale against Potsdam, as she recorded a career-high 18 saves in 60 minutes of action in a close 9-7 loss. Her 18-save performance set a new program record for saves in a single game, besting the previous mark of 16. Olshansky had a 66.7% save percentage, facing 21 shots on goal and only allowing a 9.00 goals against average while also scooping up a career-high six ground balls.
