New Paltz and Cortland to Play for SUNYAC Women's Tennis Trophy Saturday at 1pm
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - No. 1 New Paltz defeated No. 4 Plattsburgh, 4-0, in the first SUNYAC women's tennis semifinal on Friday at the Lane-Starke Tennis Center. No. 3 Cortland topped No. 2 Oswego, 4-3 in the second semifinal. The New Paltz Hawks and the Cortland Red Dragons will play for the SUNYAC title, Saturday at 1 p.m.
New Paltz looks to defend the title to clinch its fourth-straight and 11th overall SUNYAC women's tennis championship on Saturday. Cortland will be playing to win the title for the eighth time overall and first since 2005. SUNYAC women's tennis history.
The SUNYAC awarded Cortland's Mary Repass with it's SUNYAC Elite 20 award on Friday. The Elite 20 is an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. Repass is a sophomore majoring in psychology with a 4.00 overall GPA.
