2012 Cross Country All-Conference Teams and Hall of Fame Additions
The Men's and Women's Cross Country All-conference team members were selected from the top 15 finishers in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship Saturday.
The SUNYAC Women's Cross Country Champions, Geneseo had seven runners on the All-Conferene teams. Cortland, New Paltz and Plattsburgh all added two athletes to the list while Brockport and Oneonta had one each.
The Women's First Team -- the top seven runners -- consisted of Emily Cotey, Rachel Malone, Danielle Kennedy, Cassie Goodman, Nichole Wischoff, Kelley Driscoll, and Jordyn Naylon.
The Second Team -- spots eight through 15 -- was made up of Ashton Hughes, Colleen Coon, Brigid Heenan, Cailin Kawalewski, Rebekah Steinke, Amanda Wolfer, Alyssa Knott, and Mary Aldridge.
Runners earn a spot in the SUNYAC Cross Country Hall of Fame if they finish in the top five once, top 10 twice or top 15 three times
Cotey, Malone, Goodman, Wischoff, Driscoll and Jordyn Naylon were added to the Hall of Fame this year. Oneonta's Kennedy earned inclusion following the 2011 race.
Geneseo, also the Champions on the men's side, had eight runners on the All-Conference teams. Cortland was second with six and Oneonta added one.
The 7-member Men's All-Conference First Team consisted of Alex Brimstein, Chris Mateer, Tom Clark, Cody Amengual, Ryan Moynihan, Nick Marcantonio, and Tim Lee.
The Second Team members were Tim Chambers, Jarred Iacovelli, John Longo, Joe Blazey, Patrick Wortner, Brenden Wortner and Chris Moore.
Brimstein, Mateer, Amengual, and Moynihan earned induction in the Hall of Fame by virtue of their top-five finishes. Clark earned entry last year, as did this year’s sixth-place finisher Marcantonio of Cortland.
