SUNYAC recognizes eight athletes for performances during the week of March 21-27
BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Taylor Anderson (JR)
New Paltz, C/OF (East New Market, MD/Cambridge-South Dorchester)
New Paltz catcher/outfielder Taylor Anderson went 10-for-22 (.455) with 11 RBIs, four doubles and a home run as the Hawks went 5-2 on the week. Anderson hit one of two grand slams in the Hawks' 13-3 triumph over SUNY Plattsburgh on Friday and went 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs and six RBIs. On the week, Anderson averaged a .435 on base percentage and a .773 slugging percentage. On the year, Anderson ranks among SUNYAC leaders in batting average (10th, .396), slugging percentage (fifth, .563), and runs batted in (10th, 14).
BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Seth Lamando (SR) Â
Cortland (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham)
Lamando allowed only three hits with no walks and struck out eight in seven shutout innings in Cortland's 10-2 win over Fredonia on Friday. He improved to 4-0 on the season with a 0.99 ERA in six appearances.
MEN'S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Zach Hopps (SR) Â
Cortland, Attack (Akwesasne, NY/Massena)
Hopps helped lead the Red Dragons (3-4) to a pair of home non-conference wins last week, totaling 16 points on 11 goals and five assists to move into third place in career scoring at Cortland with 239 points on 126 goals and 113 assists. In a 14-9 victory versus Morrisville St. on Tuesday, Hopps tallied a game-high seven points on four goals and three assists. He followed up with career highs of nine points and seven goals, adding two assists, in a 16-14 win versus seventh-ranked Cabrini on Saturday.Â
MEN'S LACROSSE GOALIE OF THE WEEK – Matt Massaria (SR) Â
Plattsburgh (Floral Park, N.Y.)
Matt Massaria helped guide the Cardinals to a 12-8 road win over previously 5-1 MIT Saturday afternoon. The senior finished with 12 saves and only allowed five goals for a .706 save percentage in 58:27 of play.
WOMEN'S LACROSSE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Ashley Gentile (SR) Â
Cortland, Midfield (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker)
Gentile helped guide the top-ranked Red Dragons (7-0) to a pair of victories last week, scoring 10 points on eight goals and two assists and adding six ground balls, 15 draw controls and two caused turnovers. In a 21-12 win at Nazareth on Tuesday, Gentile recorded two goals, two ground balls and six draws. She followed up with a game-high eight points on six goals and two assists, a game-high nine draws and four ground balls as the Red Dragons defeated previously unbeaten and nationally fourth-ranked The College of New Jersey, 16-9, on Saturday to extend Cortland's home-winning streak to 69 consecutive games.
WOMEN'S LACROSSE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Angela Ponto (SO) Â
Oswego (Syracuse/West Genesee)
Ponto played a definitive role between the pipes for Oswego this week, helping the team earn two victories. In the Lakers win over Utica on Tuesday, Ponto tied a career-high saves and she turned aside 14 Pioneer shots. Then against Rochester, the sophomore stopped nine shots, only allowing four goals. Ponto currently leads the SUNYAC in save percentage and is second in goals-against average.
SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK- Chrissy Rennard (SR) Â
Buffalo State, OF (Brockport, NY/Brockport)
The senior health and wellness major hit .500 during a 10-game week in Florida, going 15 for 30 with seven doubles and 11 RBIs. She also drew six walks and a hit by pitch for an on-base percentage of .595 and scored 10 runs as the Bengals finished 5-5 for the week. Rennard is hitting .468 for the season with nine doubles and 15 RBIs and has at least one hit in 12 of 16 games with seven muti-hit games.

Cortland (Philadelphia, Pa./Sun Valley)
Lachall went 2-0 with a 0.62 ERA in victories at The College of New Jersey and DeSales. In 11 and a third innings she allowed only six hits and no walks with five strikeouts. Lachall was two outs away from a no-hitter before allowing an infield single in the sixth inning of a 9-0 win at DeSales. She finished with a one-hit shutout with four strikeouts.
