Swimming and Diving All-Conference Teams
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced the 2011 Swimming and Diving All-Conference honorees today, Wednesday, February 16. The SUNYAC recognized 29 men and 23 women who represent the conference’s nine institutions who sponsor the sport.
To be a member of the all-conference team a student athlete must have finished in the top three of an individual event at the Swimming and Diving Championships held Feb. 10-12. Winners of the event are named to the first team, while the second team is comprised of the runner-up and third place finisher from each event.
New Paltz and Geneseo each had seven female honorees, led by the Hawks with six first-team honorees. Six first team members is the most from any school since the all-conference award started in the 2004 season. The previous best was five by Geneseo in 2008.
Geneseo led on the men’s side with 11 total recipients; seven earning first team, while Cortland had two athletes named to the first team and seven to the second team. The Blue Wave tied their record from 2005 with the most first team members.
