IWLCA RECOGNIZES COACH WAGNER AS EMPIRES BEST
The College at Brockport's Stephen Wagner was named the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III Empire Region Coach of the Year after leading the Golden Eagles to an unprecedented season in school history.

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport's Stephen Wagner was named the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III Empire Region Coach of the Year after leading the Golden Eagles to an unprecedented season in school history.
The Golden Eagles finished the season 15-4 overall, setting a new school record in victories, previously held by the 2008 women's lacrosse team that finished with a 14-4 record under the guidance of Traci Lian. In addition, Wagner was earlier awarded the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Coach of the Year after a runner-up finish in the conference tournament.
Brockport utilized an 11 game win streak to propel itself into the IWLCA national rankings, concluding the 2016 season at No. 9 overall. Wagner was also selected by the IWLCA to lead the North Senior All-Star team which featured two Golden Eagles,Courtney Szczesniak and Makensie Schuber.
In his fourth season at the helm, Wagner guided the Golden Eagles to the first NCAA Tournament berth under his tenure. The Green and Gold defeated the higher ranked St. Mary's College of Maryland 10-1 before falling to Franklin & Marshall 11-9 in the next round.
