Huppee and Sheasby Selected SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Athletes of the Week
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Morrisville's Emily Huppee repeats as the SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Offensive Athlete of the Week and earns her fourth weekly honor of the season. Teammate Kayla Sheasby is the SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Huppee led Morrisville to a 2-0 slate across the week as they collected match wins over Oneonta and New Paltz on the weekend. In Friday night's match against Oneonta, Huppee registered a team high 19 kills while hitting .348 from the floor, averaging 6.33 kills per set, adding two service aces and 10 digs. The senior followed with 24 kills in the 3-1 match win over New Paltz where she hit .500 from the floor in the win. In addition, Huppee served up three aces, collected 10 digs and recorded two assisted blocks. Across the week, she averaged 6.14 kills per set, hit .420, had five total aces, 20 digs and three blocks. In Friday night's match, she also became the all-time kill leader in program history for Morrisville with 1575 career kills.
Sheasby led Morrisville defensively to a 2-0 record across the week's conference action, as the Mustangs picked up match wins over Oneonta (3-0), and New Paltz (3-1). The junior began the weekend with 31 digs in the match against Oneonta, posting an average 10.33 per set, while contributing five assists. She followed with 22 digs in the match against New Paltz, adding 22 more to her totals to average 7.57 digs per set across the weekend.
