SUNYAC Makes a Mark on NCAA Final Baseball Rankings in 2011
The 2011 SUNYAC Pitcher of the Year, Chris Chismar, concluded the 2011 season ranked seventh in NCAA Division III in strikeouts per nine innings (11.45). He tossed 78 strikeout’s on the season to rank behind Cortland’s Aaron Schuldt who tossed 81 and Brockport’s Kyle Smith with 79.
The SUNYAC was represented in other pitching categories as Oneonta’s Joshua Herzsenberg ranked 22nd (1.61) and Cortland’s Mike Assmann was 18th in Walks allowed per nine innings (1.05).
Plattsburgh’s Kris Cauchon finished 14th with 11 sacrifice bunts on the season and the SUNYAC Player of the Year, Oneonta’s Kevin Knack, ranked 15th in triples.
On the team side of the rankings, the Brockport Golden Eagles put together 45 double plays on the year to rank sixth and the Fredonia Blue Devils totaled 123 stolen bases to finish eighth in the division. Cortland ended the year with 8.5 strikeouts per nine innings to rank ninth overall and posted a 2.88 ERA for tenth in the category.
