Potsdam's Walsh and O'Neil Earn SUNYAC Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honors
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – SUNYAC names Potsdam's Owen Walsh and Liam O'Neil its Men's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week after securing their second straight playoff birth.
Walsh had 9 points in 2 games to help the Bears clinch a playoff spot for the second year in a row. He had a goal in an 8-5 win at Plattsburgh on Wednesday. On Saturday, he matched a season-high with 6 goals and 2 assists in the playoff-clinching 18-7 win over New Paltz.
O'Neil won both of his starts this week, recording 29 saves, a .744 save percentage, and 5.24 goals-against-average. The wins launched the Bears back into the playoffs. The Bears' captain stopped a season-high 17 shots in an 8-5 win at Plattsburgh on Wednesday. He then made 12 saves in the postseason clinching win on Saturday.
