ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Oneonta men's lacrosse junior Jamie O'Neil (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) capped off his remarkable third season by being named All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) and USA Lacrosse. O'Neil garnered honorable mention honors from both groups and became the seventh Red Dragon in program history to earn USILA All-American recognition.
"Jamie is the hardest working player in our program, I think this honor is fully deserved," said head coach Pete Owens. "He's talented, selfless, and a great leader."
O'Neil joined William Tremont ('99), Brian Dooley ('99 and '00), Matt Puerta ('02), Mike Louer ('02 and '04), Luke Rabideau ('03), and Jim van de Veerdonk ('12 and '13) in the program's All-Time USILA All-American list. Only O'Neil, Dooley, and van de Veerdonk have received All-American honors and won the SUNYAC Player of the Year.
The Bath, N.Y. native was the main focal point for the Red Dragons offense this season as he totaled 50 goals and 52 assists for 102 points in 19 games en route to earning the SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Year award. He scored three man-up goals, collected 30 ground balls, and caused six turnovers. O'Neil was one of two players in the NCAA to record at least 50 goals and 50 assists this season, setting the program record for assists and points in a single season. He was one of 11 players in Division III to record 100 points, finishing tied for seventh in the nation in overall points and tied for 17th in points per game (5.37), which placed him second in program history in single season points per game and single season assists per game (2.74).
In SUNYAC play, O'Neil recorded 22 goals and 17 assists to finish second in the league with 39 points in seven games. The junior attackman tied his career-high of nine-points in four games this year, including two against conference opponents (Canton and Potsdam). In a nine-point performance against Utica, O'Neil became the fifth player in program history to record at least seven assists in a game. He finished the season with five goals and five assists for 10 points and collected three ground balls in the SUNYAC tournament, where he led the team to the conference championship for the first time since 2002 and was selected to the All-Tournament team.
O'Neil will enter his senior year third all-time in program history with 142 goals and 210 points. He is sixth with 76 assists and is currently on pace to finish first in points per game (4.64), second in goals per game (3.02), and fifth in assists per game (1.62). Throughout his historic career so far, O'Neil has been named an All-American, three-time All-SUNYAC (twice on First Team), SUNYAC Player of the Year (2025), SUNYAC Rookie of the Year (2023), and SUNYAC All-Tournament Team. He has broken multiple program records and is on pace to break a few more.
Oneonta finished the season 9-10 overall, third in the SUNYAC at 5-2, and reached the SUNYAC tournament championship for the first time in 23 years. Individually, they had one All-American and SUNYAC Player of the Year, six named All-Conference, three selected to the All-Tournament team, and a SUNYAC Elite 20 recipient.
