USTFCCCA Selects Cross Country All-Academic Recipients
The U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has hand selected the individual athletes who were honored with All-Academic Awards. Individual honorees must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or greater and must have finished among the top 25 percent of finishers at their respective regional championships. The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) is proud to have twelve different athletes being on such a prestigious list.
The Oneonta Red Dragons had three of their cross country athletes honored; David Busby (3.90), Danielle Kennedy (3.52), and Marielle Genovesi (3.76) . Busby was the top freshmen runner for the Red Dragons this past fall. Busby finished in 60th place at the regional championship meet to help the Red Dragons place seventh overall as a team, which was its best finish ever at the meet. Kennedy and Genovesi led the women to the first NCAA Division III cross-country championship appearance in history last fall.
The Cortland Red Dragons also had three athletes who made this list as Timothy Lee (3.56), Emily Cotey (3.89), and Ameena Dye (3.63) were all honored with this award.Â
Other schools and athletes who were honored include Sean Fisher (3.70), and Keira Wood (3.68) of Geneseo, Rob Gorski (3.50), and Bridgette Joskow (3.85) of New Paltz, Rachel Malone (3.90) from the College at Brockport, and Catherine Ehmann (3.61) of Plattsburgh.
